We can't go home until we see some kangaroos in the wild. We have seen plenty in the sanctuaries, but none in the wild. After a morning of kiddies' tennis, we take off to the country to see Chrissie's Grandmother, Grandma Gleeson. She lives in Ipswich, which is about an hour west of Brisbane. She lives on a lovely property with chickens, horses and many wild birds,
but NO ROOS! We enjoy a lovely tea with scones, and strawberry shortcakes.
So on the way home, Jeff has an assignment: FIND US SOME KANGAROOS in the wild. Well, Grandma Gleeson sent us in the right direction, and soon we came up on a golf course with a resident population of more kangaroos than we ever imagined.
Normally, we would have had no trouble seeing more kangaroos in the wild, but all the rains have produced so much grass, they have not needed to forage much for food in the open.
